Your kids will love these easy, tasty energy balls. They make the perfect, filling snack for kids and toddlers. This 5 minute healthy snack for kids is a great one for them to make themselves. These healthy snacks for kids are great for school lunch boxes as well as an after-school snack.

These power balls have a secret ingredient - wheat biscuits or Weetabix . So you could also give this as a quick breakfast!

Ingredients

Ingredients for Powered Up Energy Balls
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 4 Weetabix or wheat biscuits
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil - melted
  • 8 large pitted dates
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder (plus extra for rolling)
  • 2 tbsp desiccated coconut
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

How to make powered up energy balls
  1. put the chia seeds into a small bowl. Add 4 tbsp. water and set aside. Watch the magic happen!
  2. pop the weetabix, dates, cacao powder, dessicated coconut and melted coconut oil into a blender
  3. add the chia seed and water mixture into the blender - it should have got thick and gloopy
  4. blitz everything together, scrape down the sides if necessary and blend again until everything is well mixed
  5. take small amounts in your hand and roll into balls
  6. roll in the reserved cacao powder mixed with the cinnamon
