CHOCOLATE APPLE MUMMIES FOR HALLOWEEN

Author Deirdre Doyle

Ingredients

  • How long does it take to get it ready?
  • About 45 minutes (including 20 minutes to set and 10 minutes to decorate)
  • Makes 4-6 portions approx.
  • Stuff you’ll need
  • chopping board
  • child-safe knife
  • measuring cups
  • lollipop sticks
  • saucepan and bowl or 2 bowls
  • baking tray
  • baking paper
  • spoon
  • Food you’ll need
  • 2 large apples
  • 2 cups of 70% chocolate chips or chocolate (400g) plus about
  • 20 more dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips or white chocolate (200g)

Instructions

How to make it
  1. Wash the apples and dry them really well (or else the chocolate won’t stick).
  2. Cut them into thick slices width-wise.
  3. Break up the chocolate and melt it in the microwave or “bain-marie” (see page 14 of my cookbook)
  4. Make a small slit in each slice of apple at the bottom and push the lollipop stick into it.
  5. Place some baking paper on the baking tray.
  6. Dip the apple slices into the melted chocolate - you might need to use a spoon to help make sure they are fully covered.
  7. Pop the apple slices onto the baking tray and put it into the fridge for about 20 minutes.
  8. Melt the white chocolate in the same way you melted the dark chocolate.
  9. Take the apples from the fridge. Using a spoon, drizzle the white chocolate back and forth across the apple slices so it looks like mummy bandages!
  10. Carefully drip two small circles for eyes and top them with dark chocolate chips.
  11. Let them set again and serve them all to your friends.
